Who is Hz. Mevlana? 

Mevlana is a Sufi scholar who was born in Khorasan province in Afghanistan in 1207. Mevlana, who started to take lessons in philosophy and religion from his father at a young age, immigrated to Baghdad in 1214 and then to Konya Karaman in 1218. A madrasa was built in Konya by the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubat for his father Bahaeddin Veled.

After the death of his father in 1231, Mevlana started to give lessons in the madrasah. As a sign of love and respect, he is given the nickname Mevlana by his students and fans. His full name is Mevlana Muhammed Mustafa Celaleddin Rumi. In our country and in Turkish-speaking places, he was called Mevlana. He established a close friendship with Şemsi Tabrizi, one of the most important saints of Anatolia. Since he was born and raised in Khorasan, he wrote his works in Persian. The Mesnevi he wrote in Konya was written in Persian. Mevlana died on 17 December 1273 at the age of 66.

Mevlana, who has a great impact with his works and philosophy of tolerance around the world, is one of the most important values ​​of our country.
